Dear man

Dear man with a quiver that labors all day,

Your plow is heavy, hands dry as clay.

You look all around and see houses and cars

Endless demands that reach to the stars.

You wonder how they do it. How they manage to tread

While you work and you pray and give til you’re dead.

Young faces before you offers strength to push on

Forgetting the back ache, you still rise at dawn.

The world doesn’t want your brute and your wit

Your sacrifices mixed with the truth and the grit.

They forget that they stand in your shade in the heat

While you build them a fortress and tend to their wheat.

Your heart gets restless at this yoked and joked cycle

You long for peace, no need for a title.

And you place your faith every day in the One

That builds for you, bled for you, and calls you a son.

There is more to this life than the demands set before you.

There is forgiveness and joy and kids that adore you.

Do not grow weary, for I have something to say

That your faith through it all will be rewarded one day.

You will stand with a crown in the glories of heaven

Because you loved and you bled and didn’t eat of the leaven.

You skipped out on the bars and knelt with your Bible

Asking God to refresh, that your heart not be idle.

You’re a simple man and yet with a lot left to give

Setting your aim to protect and forgive.

So don’t ever think your work here is in vain.

The water, the food, and good shelter from rain.

You sir, we need – more and more

Because the world is caving in and there’s sin at the door.

It waits for your children and lies to your wife.

It creeps in and steals and cuts like a knife.

Don’t let the world dull you depsite your pain,

God will equip you, just hand over the reigns.

Tend to your lady – love her tender and true,

Guard her and keep her through and through.

You’re making eternal news – these things you’re doing,

By lighting the way we should all be pursuing.

Please keep going, protecting the herd

In the strength of God’s love and the truth of His word.

We need one another, we need our men to be men

To stand and to kneel, and to preach to the end.
